A Special Look at the Founder of Athletes Take Action

Who is Addyson Block?

Addyson is our amazing account manager here at PO3! She is a recent graduate of Central Michigan University and now has a Bachelor's in Integrated Public Relations.

She describes herself as a “people person” and describes social media and PR as “her vibe”, as her career focus allows her to be in constant communication with a variety of different types of clients.

She has proved to be an amazing addition to PO3’s team, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for her and her pioneering platform, Athletes Take Action.

What is Athletes Take Action and what were her motivations behind creating it?

Athletes Take Action is a platform that aims to equip college athletes with the experience, skills, and confidence they need to enter the workforce.

Athletes Take Action was originally in development as Addyson’s capstone project in college. Through research and first-hand witness of her peers who were collegiate athletes, she knew that the majority of college athletes did not go pro, and that even so, nearly all of their time in college is consumed by their sport (as they are often tied to a scholarship or have an excessive amount of training hours per week).This hindered them from getting internships or from spending time narrowing down their desired career path.

She quotes an alarming statistic that highlights the main reason for why she chose to create Athletes Take Action, in that “only 2% of college athletes go pro”, and that at Athletes Take Action she aims to “ prepare the 98% for their athletic to corporate transition”.

“That is when I knew there was a problem”, Addyson explains, “And at the time I was also interning for PO3 and I knew that PO3 has athletic services and that they work with not only professional athletes, but student athletes as well. So from there I put two and two together and realized that these college athletes could greatly benefit from these services.”

Specifically speaking, Athletes Take Action involves educating athletes with resume building skills, providing them with career counseling, and connecting them with a multitude of resources so that they will have a successful plan for their future that lies beyond their athletic career.

Why did she choose PO3?

Because of PO3’s mission to help athletes and because we have established a surplus of connections and resources in that field, Addyson knew that continuing Athletes Take Action with PO3 and taking it beyond her capstone project would be a golden opportunity because it could really make a difference in young athletes' lives beyond college.

But beyond that, she applauds PO3 for guiding her in every step along the way in her career so far, and credits her accomplishments toward that. She explains how she is still learning through her work everyday and is ecstatic to see where her future with PO3 continues to go!

If she could sum up one key characteristic about our CEO, Jessica Campbell, it is that “she makes things happen”. This inspired Addyson to persevere and to stick with carrying out Athletes Take Action, because through working with PO3 she was able to witness that going for it does in fact pay off!

Additionally, PO3 puts their clients’ wants and needs first. Athletes Take Action strongly resembles PO3’s visions and values, as it aims to prioritize the success, stability, and well-being of collegiate athletes.

Here at PO3, we are so beyond proud of Addyson and are amazed at what she has accomplished so far. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for her and how her Athletes Take Action initiative will create a positive impact in the future!
