Social Media Strategy

Read this article to improve your social media strategies!

1. Define Your Goals

When defining your goals, here are some questions to get you started:

  • Who is your target audience?

  • What actions can they take?

  • What impression do you want your brand/account to give off?

The answers to these questions should guide your graphics, tone, captions, photos, videos, logos, and more. When defining your goals, it is important to keep your audience in mind.

2. Understand Your Audience

When trying to understand your audience, here are some questions to consider:

  • What would make them purchase your product/service?

  • What designs/graphics/colors would catch their eye?

  • What are the demographics and psychographics of your audience?

  • What questions/concerns may they have that you can solve?

Understanding your audience through the answers to these questions will help you design your graphics while persuading and keeping your audience engaged.

3. Create High Value Content

A common mistake in business social media accounts is making their posts too similar to one another. While consistent branding is important, it is also vital to produce and post versatile content that isn’t too predictable so that your followers stay engaged. Here are some ways you can spice up your posts:

  • Add a mixture of photos and videos

  • Add interactive stories using polls or question stickers

  • Introduce yourself or talk about your “why”

  • Mix in client/customer reviews and previews of your product/service

4. Choose Relevant Platforms

Choosing relevant platforms is important when considering your audience. For example, if you are advertising a water aerobics class for folks aged 60+, chances are TikTok is not the best platform to use. However, if you are selling make-it-yourself bracelet kits for teens, odds are it will be more effective. Conducting simple market research can help you make the right choice.

Here are the top demographics for each platform:

5. Post and Engage Frequently

If you are not up to date with your social media posts, your followers will become bored, forgetful, or even unfollow your account. Posting frequently and changing up your posting style will keep followers engaged and help attract potential customers.

6. Measure Your Analytics

Checking out the insights on your posts to see which ones are the most/least effective are a great way to boost your brand’s awareness. Chances are your most popular posts are doing the best job boosting your product/service. Make sure to look not only at how many likes or views, but also the shares and external links clicked, as your goal is for the audience to take action!

By using these tips and tricks, you can feel more confident when creating a social media presence for your brand and desired audience.
